Microsoft will add Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4 and Claude Opus 4.1 models to its Microsoft 365 Copilot service. This gives customers more choices. Copilot will still use the latest OpenAI models. The new Anthropic models will be available for the Researcher agent and in Microsoft Copilot Studio.

The Researcher agent does multi-step research. It uses web and work content. Now it can use either OpenAI or Anthropic models. In Copilot Studio, you can use the new Anthropic models to create agents. These agents can handle deep reasoning tasks. They can also do workflow automation. Multi-agent systems can even combine models from different providers.

The new models are rolling out to customers in the Frontier Program. An organization’s admin must enable access to the models. This is part of Microsoft’s plan to give customers more model options.
